At last count the MIA database contained 433.685 records...

As a first step in the direction of the electronic publication of Aby Warburgs Mnemosyne Atlas, we have published the following three, until now unpublished, documents: the Franz Boll lecture (1925), the Doktorfeier speech (1929), and the introduction Warburg wrote for the Atlas.
We are now preparing the electronic publication of the "Tagebuch" as well as the three main series of photographs of the Atlas.

Just released: Yassu Frossati-Okayama, Jerome Bosch, and the Second Generation (part 1), volume 2/1 in the series Iconclass Indexes, Early Netherlandish Painting (an iconographic index to M.J. Friedländer, Early Netherlandish Painting, part II/1), Leiden (Foleor Publishers), 2003.

The power of the Iconclass system can be demonstrated with the help of Google and the Meermanno website. We feed Google the following three search terms: thema 25F3 iconclass, where 25F3 is the Iconclass notation for "birds". Hit search and follow the link. Enjoy

The educational website for Museum Meermanno is up and running. Based upon the material that was prepared for the combined website of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek and Museum Meerman, we prepared essays that introduce the material to users in an educational setting. Teachers and students will be encouraged to add material and/or their comments. We used the concept of "topicmaps" to structure a large part of the website. We also tried to facilitate the retrieval of information via Iconclass notations for non-expert users.

Up and running for some time now and, according to the traffic stats, visited a lot is the Manuscript website of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (The Dutch National Library) and Museum Meerman. Mnemosyne prepared the subject access for the site and we programmed the environment for Iconclass queries. We prepared a small document in which we explain what we did.

Mnemosyne started work on the Utrecht Emblem Studies project. We work on the classification of the images of the emblem books, as well as, together with developers from SURF, work on parts of the software for web publication of the material.
