This was absolutely hilarious and all the posts afterward just make it that much better. While it is a valid point that homosexuals don't reproduce, there is always the option of artificial insemenation. Of course I don't think it would ever come to that as no gay person seems to be DEMANDING the end to heterosexuality. Thus it becomes a moot point. Like citing bible references. There are only two biblical references to homosexuality. One being in genesis, the story of sodom and such. In which a crowd of people already overwhelmed with sin wanted to forcibly (which is being rude in general) have sex (which is rape) with angels (which could be considered mistreating God's servants as well as, if you want to consider them a race beyond human, bestiality) to calm their (envious) rage that angels would be sent to Lot's house and no one else's. Somehow people have the perception that among all those sins it was only homosexuality that caused the city to be leveled. That's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard and I crack up every time I hear it. The other is in Leviticus where it makes a reference to lying with man as one would lie with woman. Even when interpreted as sex, it later goes on to discuss God's demands that every person make an annual sacrifice of cattle. It lists how the altar should be prepared so that the blood runs out properly and everything. I doubt many homophobics are making this sacrifice each year as they're supposed to. A bit further in Leviticus it mentions that men shouldn't shave, that piercings of any kind are every bit as sinful as homosexuality, as well as tattoos, smoking, and a woman cutting her hair... at all... It never ceases to amaze me how people will hide behind parts of the bible that are convenient for them while disregarding the rest. Homophobia is no different from racism. It's just senseless hatred of someone over something that doesn't even affect you and it's all stupid. You neo-nazis need to get a life.

Anyone arguing that gays go to hell due to Christianity/cannot tolerate gays due to the Christian doctrine is a fool. Christianity's whole faith is based around love and grace. A great display of the central elements of it. The Old Testament is not a demonstration of Christian doctrine; many examples of it demonstrate the doctrine being applied to it, but you hardly ever see any Christian theologist saying 'Yeah, pork's a sin, and you should stone adulterers.' Quite simply, it doesn't apply, especially considering the Old Testament laws practice a rule of separation(against Gentiles and other non-Jewish influences), as opposed to the doctrine of the Gospel/much of the New Testament(which says to go out to all the peoples to spread the faith). Also, saying people who strongly protest gays are usually gay is a gross overgeneralization; do you think 60%+ of the Fundamentalists and Republicans are gay? Amazing deduction. It'd be more amazing if there was some proof.

There nothing quite as condecending as the "love the sinner, hate the sin" thing. It sounds to me like a great way for the self-important to make themselves look good while still being able to be an asshole to people who don't fit their prefered mold. I have to say, I'd rather be hated by people like Hardaway who just come out and say it than by passive-agressive housewives.

What is right and what is wrong? What makes adultery or fornication ok, but not homosexuality? I believe the answer is they are all wrong, and focusing on homosexuality and not addressing the others is unfair. To be up front about it, I have a religious background, but I look for the reasons why something may be right or may be wrong. These are of course, only my beliefs. Not even my wife agrees with me on a great many of them, let alone the people I go to church with. My thoughts on it are not new. It works something like this. That which brings happiness to all involved is good, that which does not is bad. It is quite similar to another philosophy (I can't remember the name of it atm) that deals with that which brings the most good to a society, sacrifice of the few for the good of the many. I think one of the reasons that sexual "sins" are wrong is that indulgence in them is based on selfishness. They also spread disease among societies. Also, if everyone committed adultery and fornication, it could create more social tension through divorce and tenious(and abusive) family relationships. (Not that a total lack of adultery and fornication in a society would do away with family problems, but they do add to those family problems.) Homosexuality shares the selfishness and disease spreading issues, but since offspring are not a result, it does not contribute to some of the other social issues. If everyone were to be homosexual, humanity would die out quite quickly. Which I personally think is "wrong", but that is another essay. I am not coming from a morally superior stance on this, as I have been heavily "guilty" of fornication and a kind of adultery. All that psycho babbly aside, George's clip was a riot! How can you not find that funny?

If that is your opinion, you have a right to it, but don't paste your feelings on others. Hardaway got exactly what he deserved. Fortunately narrow-minded thinking is giving way to more enlightened compassion. I know that most of us are uncomfortable with homosexuality but they have every right to live their life the way they want without having to deal with gay bashing. I feel sorry for people like Tim Hardaway. We are all humans and to judge a person without knowing the character and heart of the person is ignorant and foolish.
